Yunga Yarns

Yunga Yarns

There's yarns…as to thread, fibre, cotton, wool...

And there's yarns… as to have conversations with someone!...

About Me

G'day! Bonjour!

I was born and raised in New Caledonia and came to Australia in 1973. I have 3 sons and  3 beautiful grandchildren. I lived in Sydney, NSW, for 16 years, then in Cairns, for 21 years.

In 2011 I moved to Yungaburra, Qld, (Cairns Tablelands) with my partner, best friend, and soul mate.

This picturesque little town, which is heritage listed, is nested close to Lake Tinaroo.  It's a mix of residential and country living and you can't help thinking you want to create handmade things when you go through it. ..

My mind is always running wild with new creations.  If I see something interesting in a magazine or at the shops my brain automatically goes into gear and thinks "I could make that". So much more interesting than just buying it, don't you think?

I have never been bored as I have many interests: cooking, baking  (from my French background), gardening, reading, crochet, creating, photography, computering, crochet, researching my genealogy, recycling, crafting, oh and did I mention crochet?

Yunga Yarns???
Yunga - Of course is the first part of Yungaburra, where I live and love to be.
Yarns - There's yarns and yarns… Working with yarns is one of my passions but I also enjoy having a good yarn!

Yungaburra takes  its name from the Yidinyji language, meaning  a place of enquiring or questioning.
Yunga Yarns, I hope, will be a place of meeting and sharing.

Please make yourself at home. Look around as I start sharing things with you. There will be a lot of reminiscing with pictures of my past projects but also the ongoing and no doubt the new ones.
I don't have a sister or a daughter to have crafty yarns with, so my aim with this blog is to get more friends from all around the world.

Drop in anytime you feel like and stay a while… And I hope you'll drop me a yarn when you come and visit!

See ya later! Au revoir!
